Slovenia’s whitewater and paragliding centre, on the upper Soča under Kanin.
Bovec exists for the river. The upper Soča between Bovec and Kobarid is the country’s main rafting, kayaking and canyoning water, and the Kanin ridge above town gives some of the most reliable paragliding in the Alps. The water is cold — it stays in single digits into early summer — and the season runs roughly April to September. The Vršič pass from Kranjska Gora comes down here, which makes Bovec the natural second half of that drive.
