food market
Odprta kuhna
A Friday street-food market on the market square, where many of the country’s better kitchens set up stalls.
Thirty kitchens in one square, at street-food prices, with the people who live there.
Open Kitchen runs on Fridays through the warmer months on Pogačarjev trg beside the central market, and it is the single best way to graze across Slovenian cooking in one place — established restaurants, small producers and one-off kitchens all take stalls, and it draws a largely local crowd. The season runs roughly from March to October and it does not run in bad weather, so confirm on the day. It also travels to other towns on published dates.
Flat paved square, but extremely crowded at peak times.
