Plečnikova hiša
The house the architect built for himself in Trnovo and lived in until 1957, kept as he left it.
Seeing his own house makes the rest of Plečnik’s Ljubljana comprehensible rather than merely decorative.
Plečnik bought a small house here in 1921 and extended it with a cylindrical wing and a winter garden. The interior survives almost intact — his furniture, tools, drawings and collections — which is unusual, and it explains his work better than any of the public monuments. Visits are by guided tour with limited group sizes, so booking ahead matters, particularly out of season when tour frequency drops.
A historic house on several levels with narrow stairs. Contact the museum about step-free access.
