Tromostovje
Plečnik’s widened stone bridge at Prešeren Square — the centre of the city and part of its UNESCO listing.
Free, central, and the clearest single example of the architecture that defines the city.
Jože Plečnik took an existing 1842 bridge and in 1932 added two flanking footbridges with balustrades and stairs down to the river, turning a crossing into a public square. It is the single best introduction to what he did to Ljubljana: he treated the whole river as one architectural composition. The works of Plečnik in Ljubljana were inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2021.
The main deck is flat and step-free. The riverside terraces below are reached only by stairs.
