winery
A Brda estate whose vineyards straddle the Italian border, internationally known for minimal-intervention wine.
Movia has been in the Kristančič family since 1820 and is run by Aleš Kristančič, whose reputation abroad did a great deal to put Slovenian wine on international lists. The estate’s vineyards cross the Italian frontier, so the same holding sits in two countries. The winemaking is deliberately minimal-intervention, including the Lunar and Puro bottlings which are unfiltered and, in Puro’s case, disgorged under water by the buyer. Tastings are by arrangement.
Tasting visits mean alcohol. Plan a designated driver — Slovenia enforces a low blood-alcohol limit.
