A hatch on a small Piran square serving fried fish and calamari on paper plates at shared tables.
The best value seafood on the Slovenian coast, in the nicest small square in Piran.
Fritolin is the antidote to Piran’s waterfront restaurants: you order at a window on Prvomajski trg, take a number, and eat fried sardines, calamari or a grilled fish fillet at communal benches in the square. It is cheap, fast and genuinely good, and the square — with its old cistern — is more pleasant than the harbourfront. Cash and patience help; the queue moves but it exists.
Outdoor seating on a flat but cobbled square. Reaching it means walking into the car-free old town.
seafood, Istrian
Known for: fried sardines, calamari, grilled fish
