Why visit

The clearest demonstration of why Slovenian water looks the way it does — and it costs nothing.

About

Zelenci is a shallow, intensely blue-green pool fed from below by springs, with sand cones visible where the water rises. It is the source of the Sava Dolinka and a protected wetland reserve with a boardwalk and an observation tower. The walk in from the car park is flat and takes about fifteen minutes, which makes it one of the few genuinely striking natural sites in the Alps that almost anyone can reach. Colour is strongest in bright light.
