A cable car from the lake to 1,535 m, with the full Triglav panorama from the top station.

Why visit

High alpine views with no climb — the best return on effort anywhere in the country.

About

The gondola rises from Ukanc at the lake’s western end to 1,535 m in about ten minutes, which is the single easiest way to get high in the Julian Alps. From the top the view takes in Triglav, the Bohinj valley and the ridge towards Komna. In summer there are easy ridge walks and a via ferrata; in winter it is Bohinj’s main ski area, with genuinely long runs and reliable snow by Slovenian standards. Operating hours and seasons vary — check before travelling.

Good to know

High mountain environment: temperatures at the top are often 8–10°C below the valley, and weather changes fast. The cable car does not run in high wind or storms.
