A 1.6 km boardwalk pinned to the wall of a limestone gorge cut by the Radovna, ending at the Šum waterfall.
Twenty minutes from Bled and completely different in character — the most accessible dramatic landscape in the region.
The gorge was made accessible in 1893 with a timber walkway that still follows the same line, crossing the river repeatedly on bridges. The water is a strong green, the walls close to 50–60 m high in places, and the walk ends at Šum, the highest river waterfall in Slovenia. It is about four kilometres from Bled. Since the walkway is one-way and narrow, a timed entry system is normally in force in high season, and it is worth booking. The gorge closes in winter.
Timber walkway above fast water; slippery when wet. The gorge may close at short notice after heavy rain or rockfall.
The boardwalk has steps and uneven timber sections and is not passable with wheels. It is one-way; returning means either walking back along the gorge or taking the marked path overland.
