Zemono Manor is a Renaissance pleasure villa standing alone on a low hill with the Vipava valley on all sides, and the restaurant inside it has been run by the Kavčič family for a long time. The cooking is ambitious and rooted in the valley’s produce and its indigenous grapes. The setting does a great deal of the work — an arcaded hall with frescoed ceilings — and it is a common choice for weddings, so check availability. It is about 45 minutes from Ljubljana.
