Lipica is the original Lipizzaner stud, established by the Habsburgs in 1580, and the breed takes its name from this place. The estate is open for tours of the stables and stud, with training presentations on a published schedule. It is a fifteen-minute drive from Škocjan and pairs naturally with it. Slovenia’s Lipizzaner tradition was inscribed on UNESCO’s intangible heritage list in 2022, jointly with seven other countries.
