cafe
The café terrace where Bled cream cake was standardised in 1953 — lake view included.
Blejska kremšnita — a square of vanilla custard and cream between two sheets of puff pastry — was given its standard form by a confectioner at this hotel in 1953, and the recipe is still made here. The terrace looks straight down the lake to the island. It is unashamedly the tourist thing to do in Bled, and it is also genuinely the origin, which makes it worth the twenty minutes. Expect to queue in summer.
