Por qué visitarlo
Izola was an island until the nineteenth century, when the channel was filled. It is still a fishing port, and it is where people on the coast actually go to eat fish. The old town is smaller and scruffier than Piran’s and considerably less busy. There are good pebble and concrete swimming spots along the Strunjan side, and the Strunjan cliffs — the highest flysch cliff on the Adriatic — are a short walk north.
