Hiša Stare trte
The oldest vine in the world still producing fruit — over 400 years old, growing on a house wall in the city centre.
The Old Vine, a žametovka, has grown on this wall since around the late sixteenth century and is generally recognised as the oldest vine in the world still bearing fruit. It still yields a small annual harvest, bottled in tiny numbers and used for civic gifts. The house beside it functions as a wine centre for the Štajerska region, with tastings and a shop covering the eastern wine districts. It takes fifteen minutes unless you stay to taste.
