O mestu

Inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1986, Škocjan is a system carved by the Reka river, which enters the cave and continues underground. The scale is the point: the Martel Chamber is among the largest discovered underground chambers in Europe, and the tour route crosses the Cerkvenik bridge 45 m above the river. The standard tour walks about 3 km with a substantial number of steps and a funicular back up. Constant 12°C. Most people who visit both this and Postojna find Škocjan the more impressive and Postojna the easier.

The tour involves several hundred steps, long ascents and descents, and a high bridge over the river. It is not suitable for wheelchairs, pushchairs, or anyone who cannot manage sustained stairs. Contact the park about alternatives.
