Waarom bezoeken
Portorož is where the Slovenian coast puts its hotels, beaches, marina and thalassotherapy spas — the name means port of roses, and it has been a bathing resort since the late nineteenth century, built on the salt pans next door. It is not historic and does not pretend to be. Practically, it is the right base for a family beach stay, with Piran a fifteen-minute walk along the shore.
