Piranske mestne obzidje
De overgebleven heuveltopmuur boven de stad, met het beste uitzicht op de Sloveense kust voor een zeer kleine vergoeding.
The view that explains why the town is shaped the way it is.
Piran’s seventh defensive wall, built in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, survives along the ridge above the town with several towers you can climb. From the top you get the whole peninsula, the red roofs, the salt pans towards Sečovlje, and on a clear day the Alps behind Trieste. The climb up through the old town is steep and stepped, and the wall walk has no railings in places. It is one of the cheapest good things to do on the coast.
Unprotected drops along sections of the wall. Keep children close.
Reached by a steep stepped climb through the old town, and the wall walk itself has uneven stone stairs with limited protection.
