Warum hin

Bohinj is four times the surface area of Bled and has perhaps a fifth of the visitors. Because the whole lake lies within Triglav National Park, development is tightly capped — there is no promenade of hotels, and swimming from the shore is normal. It is the better base for walking: the Vogel cable car reaches 1,535 m in ten minutes, the Savica waterfall trailhead is at the western end, and the Seven Lakes valley starts above it. Bad-weather options are thin, which is worth planning for.
